Senior leadership when hiring full-time isn't the answer yet.
Newf Advisory places a fractional CTO or CIO on retainer. No recruiting cycle. No severance risk. Built in New York, working with founder-led companies, PE portfolio companies, and professional services firms.
How We Work
30-Minute Conversation
We talk about your business, your team, and where the leadership gap is. We tell you whether we are the right fit.
Pick a Cadence
Monthly Operator Retainer or weekly Embedded Leadership with a named role on your org chart. We scope the engagement to your actual situation.
We Take a Position
We evaluate vendors, run the migration, and sit in the room when leadership makes a call with a technology consequence. The recommendation goes in writing. The engagement adapts as the business does.
Who we work with
Revenue, ambition, and a leadership gap.
We are vertical-agnostic. The pattern is always the same.
From a client
“When Spencer and Newf Technology came on, The Nexxt Stage depended heavily on technology but had no one senior owning it. Spencer stepped into that gap and built our IT foundation, including systems, access and security, while we were scaling across multiple productions and teams. He’s part of our weekly operations rhythm, handles the hard migrations without disruption, and treats our business like it’s his own. For any founder whose company runs on technology but doesn’t yet have a senior IT leader, I’d recommend Spencer without hesitation.”
Questions?
What does a fractional CTO or CIO do?
A senior technology operator works inside your business on a fractional basis and owns the decisions a CTO or CIO would own: stack and license rationalization, backup and restore, identity and access hygiene, vendor and MSP oversight, systems selection and migration, and the IT budget and roadmap. We are the technology voice in the room when leadership makes a decision with a technology consequence.
What does it cost compared with a full-time hire?
The Operator Retainer is $5,500 per month for 10 hours on a monthly cadence. Embedded Leadership is $11,500 per month for 30 hours on a weekly cadence, with a named CTO or CIO on your org chart. Both run a 6-month initial term, then month to month. The ROI calculator puts either one side by side with the cost of a full-time hire.
How is this different from our MSP?
Your MSP keeps the systems running. Usually nobody owns the technology strategy. We oversee your MSP and your vendors, evaluate what they propose, and put the recommendation in writing.
How fast can an engagement start?
It starts with a 30-minute conversation. Once we agree on cadence and role, we get inside the business: we read the documents, meet the team, and sit in on the leadership meetings. By week two, we have an opinion on what to do next and we can defend it.
Where do you work?
On Long Island and across the New York metro area, primarily with founder-led companies, PE portfolio companies, and professional services firms.
Can we start smaller than a retainer?
Yes. Project work is fixed scope with a single price inside the published range, and no retainer is required. The Technology Leadership Assessment is $3,500 fixed and credits against month one of a retainer signed within thirty days.
